You make me want to be a better adman.
Sometimes I use magazines. There are plenty of Web sites too, I suppose, but there’s something about having the piece in your hands, you can almost feel the textures and the color. Sometimes I pop in a movie from my stash… sorry, that’s as far as I’m going to go with this lame Three’s Company-esque, misunderstanding set-up. Of course, I’m referring to things that inspire me. And by “inspire me” I still don’t mean some sort of self-gratification innuendo. Like most of us, I unwrap the new Archive with the bright eyed enthusiasm of the proverbial kid at Christmas, or the kid in the candy store, or whichever one is the more excited of the two—maybe a kid in a candy store on Christmas! Yes, I like my Archive, and my CA, Print, HOW, whatever I can get my hands on. I’m only human, we all need a jumpstart now and then. Yes, I’m well aware you’ve all heard of these publications. Introducing them to you is not the point of this writing. Sharing creative resources is. I’ve been receiving some great pieces from people who are far more resourceful than I am in finding amazing work from around the globe (thank you Andrei, Dan, Jorge). We then email back and forth discussing the pieces. I know, total advertising dorks. So I got to thinking, we as a club should share our findings and thoughts on the work we stumble across. Like adsoftheworld.com but without all the crap. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to invite every Adworker out there to share the links you find to the great work many of us may not be exposed to. We’ll share them with you right here, and let you have your way with them.
Speaking of a site to frequent, lately I’ve been looking at ted.com, a site Nick Pipitone turned me on to. While I enjoy perusing the advertising and design sites, it is nice to see other expressions of creative thought. Ted.com is a great site full of “inspired talks by the world’s greatest thinkers and doers”. I highly recommend it.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading. See you at the lanes.
Joe
